On September 4, the “World Sexual Health Day” is celebrated worldwide to raise awareness of the importance of sexual health. This day, which was initiated in 2010 by the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS), emphasizes the need for progress so that all people can live out their sexuality freely. Sexual health encompasses much more than just a focus on sexually transmitted infections (STIs). It is also about sexuality, quality of life and personal well-being. It includes aspects such as safer sex, but also rights, social norms, interpersonal relationships and individual experiences.

Each year, the day has a different theme. In 2024, the theme is: Positive Relationships. Relationships are not only of a sexual nature, but include all types of interpersonal interactions. Positive relationships are diverse and exist with friends, family and even with oneself. Important characteristics of positive relationships include comfort, caring, respect, listening, safety, encouragement, fun and support. Facilitating such relationships should respect boundaries, promote problem solving and communication skills, and emphasize teamwork and kindness. Positive relationships are modeled through active listening, open communication, healthy conflict resolution, self-care, and appreciation for friends and family. With its weekly “Checkpoint”, it creates a low-threshold offer to get tested not only for HIV, but also for other sexually transmitted infections (STI).

Checkpoint - test for HIV, chlamydia, gonococcus, syphilis every Tuesday from 18:30 - 20:00 and every 1st Thursday of the month. Registration by telephone: 0721 / 35 84 16 0
